Travel Advice in Response to Flight Disruptions in Europe
- For the most up-to-date travel information, refer to your airline, tour operator or airport website. (See the web links below)
- Ensure your travel counsellor, airline and/or tour operator have your correct contact information both within Canada and within the destination(s) you are travelling.
- Affected travelers should still expect delays and should work with their airline, tour operator or travel counsellor to discuss alternate travel arrangements.
- Contact the nearest Canadian government office, which can provide local advice and a list of doctors and hospitals, if medical assistance or prescription medication refills are needed.
- Canadian citizens in the affected areas requiring emergency consular assistance should contact their local Canadian Embassy or call DFAIT's Emergency Operations Centre collect at 613-996-8885 or email sos@international.gc.ca
- Canadian citizens are advised to register with the Registration of Canadian Citizens Abroad service in order to receive the latest advice from the local Canadian Embassy.
- Make arrangements to extend the validity of your travel insurance. Some providers have provisions for an event of this nature if you purchased your trip prior to April 14, subject to some conditions. For details, phone your insurance provider.

Ash Alert: Updated airline advisories April 22 - 0500
Air Canada
Air Canada advises that it plans to operate a full schedule of 40 flights Thursday April 22 to/from Canadian cities and the following destinations in Europe: London, Paris, Frankfurt, Munich, Zurich, Geneva, Rome, as well as Tel Aviv.
Some airspace restrictions continue to be in place as a result of the spread of volcanic ash over Europe due to volcanic activity in Iceland. Operating schedules remain subject to change.
